However, SCO users should be at least investigating their options just in case. Of course, with Microsoft also attacking on the patent side, Linux users should take the same advice. Microsoft could possibly kill Samba with patents, and while that wouldn't kill all Linux use, it would destroy a lot of the value. That's not a pleasant thought, of course, but neither are many disasters we routinely insure against and maintain emergency planning for. Although opposed to the idea in principle, I was hoping that the Eola patent might put Microsoft users in a similar uneasy position, but it looks like that isn't going to happen. -- Tony Lawrence http://aplawrence.com/Lawsuit/      |
