| Hello Dear Friends: It appears that after reviewing whatever SCO has to offer in the way of evidence in it's ongoing case against IBM that IBM has officially made it's views known. As we are all aware, SCO & Co announcements, proclamations, threats and general views and opinions are measured by the mega-word in every venue that will print it but IBM has been strangely quiet. It is almost as if the computer giant is involved in a lawsuit and doesn't wish to comment publicly. However IBM has decided to break it's silence on this subject and has stated matter of factly that: "The SCO case has no merit!" Wow! Slow down Big Blue! After months and months of no official announcements, no threats, no arm waving and no body guards that you are simply saying that the SCO case against IBM Inc has NO MERIT! This is going to be a devastating head blow to our own "Tony the Tuna" who is constantly bating the OSSers with his mindless mantra of "SCO MAY have a case" despite every single piece of evidence to the contrary! OK, I have had my fun. Brian Not An SCO luser! |

Lordy, you are clueless. "Devastating blow" ? You have no clue what my positions are in this matter, but because I'm not a mindless "death to SCO" moron, therefore I MUST be "devastated" at any development that isn't in their favor. Wake up: I DON'T WANT SCO TO WIN THIS! Unlike you, I'm smart enough to understand that my hopes have nothing to do with reality. SCO may or may not have a legitimate case here, and neither you nor I nor any of the thousands of other bleating sheep have any real knowledge about that. Nor do most of us have any intimacy with kernel internals, history of origin, etc. Next, whether or not they do have legitimate complaints against IBM, and whether or not IBM says they don't or stands up and blows raspberries at them, the outcome will be decided by people who probably will heve LESS technical understanding of the issues than either you or I or most anyone else reading this, and that itself can cause stupid results: look at some of the idiotic patents that have been upheld in courts!. "Devastating blow". Right. -- tony@aplawrence.com Unix/Linux/Mac OS X resources: http://aplawrence.com Get paid for writing about tech: http://aplawrence.com/publish.html |
