Default SCO refuses to leave UnitedLinux...

Hello Dear Friends:

SCO, our favorite insane computer software company, has repeatedly refused
to leave the UnitedLinux consortium so everybody else left and now United
Linux is nothing more than an empty shell.

SuSE literally turned off the lights and walked away last week leaving the
carcass for SCO to play with as they see fit. I fully expect Darl & Co to
start filing lawsuits against the other partners at any time because they
'failed to live up to their commitments' - that is the Darl way, don't you
know.

And of course our favorite fish, Tony the Tuna will sound out the
possibility that SCO May Have Case!

In other news, IBM has made statements to the effect that the evidence
submitted by SCO is far from complete - not the slightly lite version that
SCO would have you believe, but seriously deficient.

Here is the deal (Tony, are you paying attention?) If SCO has all this
evidence of System V code being incorporated into the Linux kernel and has
had it for months, what is taking so long to deliver it to IBM? I mean, SCO
KNEW what IBM was asking for for months, both from the interrogatories and
from the multiple Motions to Compel - this has gone on for almost six (6)
months!!!

I know this, the Judge knows this, IBM knows this, everybody knows this with
the exception of Tony the Tuna... therefore all this minor bit of
maneuvering is just sidestepping the inevitable!

Personally, I think Judge Wells is giving SCO every opportunity to deliver
before IBM delivers the death blow to this frivolous lawsuit!

Anybody also notice that SCO apparently had enough time to file a lawsuit
against Novell in the last couple weeks but couldn't deliver on a court
ordered motion!

Best regards,

Brian

They may. Or may not. And may win or lose either way. As
has been your practise, you continue to misrepresent my
position: http://aplawrence.com/Blog/B752.html

Why are you so stupid? Not a rhetorical question: I honestly want
to know what prevents you from seeing this. You sound like some
crazed football fan insisting that his team will win.

By the way: I LIKE tuna, and eat it frequently, so I find
your childish use of my name quite pleasant..

And it helps keep your mercury levels up too!

You, know, I really don't want SCO to win this, but if they do, the
GOOD part of it will be the look on your face..

I beg to differ:

I eat quite a bit of canned tuna and have seen no evidence of brain
damage or memory loss. Ummmm... what were we discussing?

The most frightening aspects of Mecury were first brought to light
in the series of photographs by Gene Smith from Minamata. I have
many from that series in a copy of Aperture from many years ago.

It is interesting how mercury is found to be so bad, yet when I was
a kid we'd often get mercury from sun lamp bulbs that had burned
out, and hold in the hand, roll it around, and rub it on pennies to
make them look like dimes.

Those were massive quantities of mercury in the water and fish.
Damage claims are still being tried:

Methinks there's a rather large difference is exposure and injestion
levels between eating fish from the Shiranui Sea and tuna from the
ocean.

I was wondering why the price of liquid mercury had soared. It's all
the telescope builders and their rotating mirrors full of liquid
mercury:

My father had a bottle of it that a renter had left behind, along with other
useful stuff like nitric acid. My brother and I would get it out every once in
a while to play with, rolling it around in our hands. I eventually tried to
convert the whole bottle into mercuric fulminate. Probably just as well that
something apparently went wrong and the very large quantity of precipitate I
produced was inert, else that mercury might have ended up being *really* bad
for my health!

And as I recall [correct me if I'm wrong] also used [at least
originally] to float slabs to master CDs as the lasers had to
exactly perpindicular to the earth's surface. I heard that a long
time ago, from a mastering engineer when they were converting from
an LP mastering facility to the new CD format coming out. [that
gives you an idea of how long ago I heard this]
