Default VisionFS 3.1

VisionFS 3.1 includes support for Microsoft Windows 2000
clients.

Will it also work with a Windows XP Professional client?

Bob,

here's what I got from my archive:

VisionFS and Windows 2000 or Windows XP

VisionFS 3.1 is required to support Windows 2000 or Windows XP clients.
In addition, we recommend that you apply the 3.10.911 patch.

We recommend that you configure VisionFS to authenticate using the
encrypted VisionFS password database rather than unencrypted (UNIX)
passwords. To see which authentication method you are using,
type the following command as root:

visionfs status

You can change the authentication mode using:

visionfs setup

Answer "No" to "Are these settings OK?", then leave the options
unchanged until prompted whether to change the authentication method.
Answer "Yes", and switch to VisionFS passwords using the
"V" option. Then continue leaving the remaining options unchanged, and
finally accept the revised settings.

Once the authentication method has changed you must populate the
VisionFS password database before users can connect to the VisionFS
server. We recommend you use the VisionFS Password Wizard, which
you start with the following command:

visionfs password --wizard

Not tried it personally but I think it's worth trying.

I have many customers using XP Pro with VisionFS. Just be sure you are
running VisionFS 3.10.911 with encrypted passwords. Use the "Manage Network
Logins" option of User Accounts to set the correct user ID and password from
the XP client.
