| Hi all and a happy new year! Just a quick question: any suggestions for a motherboard that: - has the same or approximative specs of the Asus A7N8X Deluxe Rev 1007 - is fully supported (i.e. not Nvidia-based) under OpenBSD. Also, if the OpenBSD people would like to have it and have a crack at the Nvidia chipset, please contact me, I'll gladly send you the motherboard if you can use it. If I recall correctly though, TDR declared some kind of boycot on Nvidia because of this lack of cooperation, so this might not something OpenBSD Dev might be interested in. Thx for your patience, P.R. |

I'd love to hear more on this. |

| According to a very friendly gentleman by the name of Matthieu (OpenBSD-Dev?), we are better off keeping the mobo. Most needed functionality for a desktop is supported anyhow, I agree with him on that one. However, the idea of having non-supported USB2, firewire and the Nvidia ethernet kinda bugs me... guess we should try to find a way to fix it ourselves instead of whining hehe "Test" <me@here.com> wrote in message news:VGsJb.18467$Vl6.3484455@news20.bellglobal.com ... > > "Kirlian Nexx" <sorry@nogo.com> wrote in message > news:3bkJb.111305$sx4.5170238@phobos.telenet-ops.be... > > Hi all and a happy new year! > > > > Just a quick question: any suggestions for a motherboard that: > > > > - has the same or approximative specs of the Asus A7N8X Deluxe Rev 1007 > > - is fully supported (i.e. not Nvidia-based) under OpenBSD. > > > > Also, if the OpenBSD people would like to have it and have a crack at > > the Nvidia chipset, please contact me, I'll gladly send you the > > motherboard if you can use it. | As a final note, I just got tired of the A7N8X Deluxe and switched to an Asus A7V8X-X. It runs like a dream, OpenBSD just works out of the box and... well it works! I am kind of sorry that I couldn't solve the issues with the Cardbus controller and the ICU, but frankly, I don't mind paying 56 euros to have some peace of mind. If anybody wants a good mobo which works impeccably on OpenBSD for the price of a good meal at a restaurant, Asus A7V8X-X!
