| -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 After being successful installing OpenBSD 4.1 on my AlphaStation 255, I decided to see if I could get `X' to work. The last time that `X' started on this guy, it was running VMS. I saw that there was a config file that contained the 'tga' device and the instructions said that a 'startx' command would be all that it should take. The messages: X: libio is only available on bwx capable machines giving up. /usr/X11R6/bin/xinit: Connection refused (errno 61): unable to connect to X server /usr/X11R6/bin/xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error. $ I tried starting X as root with the same results. Is there some other configuration file that I may need to edit to allow the X server to start? I also noticed that I only have one console when the AlphaStation is booted. I had 8 consoles on FreeBSD and VMS. There was a note in the README about TGA boards being a little wierd but there wasn't much detail about the cause. The vitals: New OpenBSD 4.1 Generic running on an AlphaStation 255 with 128M of memory. The graphics board is a PBXGB-AA which gets identified as a TGA graphics adapter in /var/log/messages. Thanks again for a very functional OS. I am sure a lot of work goes into keeping the Alpha updated with the latest and greatest. Multiple virtual consoles are currently not supported on tga(4) cards. > Thanks again for a very functional OS. I can't say there is much work happening in alpha land those days in OpenBSD, although a panifully annoying stability problem has been fixed semi recently. |
