| Hi, my new laptop is a dual core processor and I hove some problem running OpenBSD 3.9 cause the amd64 and i386 release works bad with the GENERIC.MP. The system freezes after the boot of the kernel, on the roor, rootdev message or with the message "apm0 disconnected". I have tried the snapshots, and with them the GENERIC.MP boots and the system works, but it is unstable, and sometimes it freeze, with both cpu to 100%, so the system become hot, and sometimes after the freeze... It remains blocked. And still the laptop become hot etc etc. (I hope not overheat). So, there is some problem if I use a GENERIC (amd64) kernel, and then I'll use just one cpu? For my tasks one cpu is enought, but I have read that the system can overheat, so I'm not sure for this choice. Someone have tried this? Awaiting the 4.0 release, can I use OpenBSD in this way? Thank you in advance! |
