| Folks, I'm looking for a program for performing network monitoring. For example, to display the percentage of bandwidth being used, the percentage of bandwidth each service is using, etc. It need not be an X application (I'd be glad to hear about them anyway)... A text-orirented GUI would do. A text-orirented GUI would do. > > Can any of you guys recommend such a tool? depends on the size of your network, but i have used various combinations of the following in the past: - aguri, using the gnulpot tools included (in ports) - ntop (ports have been created) - bandwidthd (port submitted, not sure it was committed) bandwidthd is the most complete package of the three, ie it generates graphs and all for you. ntop can, as well, and version 2.x has lots of bells and whistles. aguri is a nice tool to show you interesting aspects of the network. hope this helps, ------- jose nazario co-author, "Secure Architectures with OpenBSD" |
