Even though I don't believe DHCP can be involved ,
and I still haven't a clue what could be happening
apart from PF simply failing to process these packets
properly , I benefited from the link you posted.


I've kept the "bpf" Input/Output diagram that Daniel
posted. I have wondered as to just how tcpdump is
able to do what it does , now I know.
