| I have googled for this but get only 3 hits, all the same, but not containing an example. I am trying to figure out how to run fxtv with /dev/bktr1 as the video input. Any hints? Thanks, Dave Feustel -- Don't Worry. Be Happy. |

I found an example, but I still don't see how to soecify that fxtv use /dev/bktr1. > I am trying to figure out how to run fxtv > with /dev/bktr1 as the video input. > Any hints? > > Thanks, > Dave Feustel > -- Don't Worry. I tried that. Fstat shows that fxtv is using bktr0 /home/daf}fxtv -c /dev/bktr1 & [1] 5530 /home/daf}Can't control LINE volume via /dev/mixer fstat | grep fxtv daf fxtv 5530 wd /home 556416 drwxr-xr-x r 5120 daf fxtv 5530 0 / 62406 crw------- rw ttyp3 daf fxtv 5530 1 / 62406 crw------- rw ttyp3 daf fxtv 5530 2 / 62406 crw------- rw ttyp3 daf fxtv 5530 3* unix stream 0xffff8000011f2f00 <-> 0xffff8000011f6b00 daf fxtv 5530 4 / 61828 crw-r--r-- r bktr0 daf fxtv 5530 5 / 62754 crw-r--r-- r tuner0 daf fxtv 5530 13 /usr 4228446 -r--r--r-- r 65932 daf fxtv 5530 14 /usr 4228453 -r--r--r-- r 49224 /home/daf} I also tried creatinf tuner1, but then fxtv complains that tuner1 is not configured. Actually, the VC card I am using has no tuner. I think the problem. > Does fxtv have a man page? "man fxtv"? > Rudy Yes. I have read and re-read it, but it always looks the same. I also read the much more extensive documentation in /usr/local/share/doc/fxtv and I finally found the file Fxtv, but I see no way to specify bktr1 as the capture device in any of these files. I also went through the fxtv source code, but I have not found where the input VC device is set. I will keep looking though. It has to be in there somewhere. Thanks for the suggestions. | Here is the output of the command fxtv -debug startup. First up comes a blank fxtv screen and a console error message. When I kill fxtv, then the following data is written to the console: ------------------------------------ Fxtv v1.03 DETECTED CAPTURE CARD(S) [DRIVER PROBES]: bktr0 at pci1 dev 0 function 0 "Brooktree BT878" rev 0x11: irq 11 bktr0: Hauppauge WinCast/TV, <no> tuner. bktr0 at pci1 dev 0 function 0 "Brooktree BT878" rev 0x11: irq 11 bktr0: Hauppauge WinCast/TV, <no> tuner. bktr1 at pci1 dev 1 function 0 "Brooktree BT878" rev 0x11: irq 5 bktr1: Hauppauge WinCast/TV, <no> tuner. bktr0 at pci1 dev 0 function 0 "Brooktree BT878" rev 0x11: irq 11 bktr0: Hauppauge WinCast/TV, <no> tuner. bktr1 at pci1 dev 1 function 0 "Brooktree BT878" rev 0x11: irq 5 bktr1: Hauppauge WinCast/TV, <no> tuner. bktr0: ioctl: tsleep error 35 6000288 bktr0: ioctl: tsleep error 35 60000f4 bktr0: ioctl: tsleep error 35 6000460 bktr0: ioctl: tsleep error 35 6000430 bktr0: ioctl: tsleep error 35 6000510 bktr0: ioctl: tsleep error 35 6000124 bktr0: ioctl: tsleep error 35 60005bc bktr0: ioctl: tsleep error 35 60004bc SYSCTL MIB VALUES: kern.version=OpenBSD 4.1-stable (GENERIC) #2: Sat Jun 30 17:01:51 EDT 2007 root@amd.localhost.comcast.net:/usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/GENERIC TUNER SIGNATURE (0x01 - 0xff): 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 TUNER I2C DEVICES FOUND AT: 0xa0 CAPTURE CARD EEPROM CONTENTS: Read 256 EEPROM bytes (0x00 - 0xff) 84 09 00 04 20 77 00 40 25 5d 97 00 73 05 00 00 84 08 00 06 95 fb 00 00 00 10 8d 72 07 70 73 09 0e 7f 73 0a 01 02 72 0b 2e 72 10 01 72 11 00 79 ac 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 13 eb 00 70 84 09 00 04 20 77 00 40 25 5d 97 00 73 05 00 00 84 08 00 06 95 fb 00 00 00 10 8d 72 07 70 73 09 0e 7f 73 0a 01 02 72 0b 2e 72 10 01 72 11 00 79 ac 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 13 eb 00 70 SUPPORTED FREQUENCY SETS: 1 nabcst 2 cableirc 3 cablehrc 4 weurope 5 jpnbcst 6 jpncable 7 xussr 8 australia 9 france Supported RGB Capture Pixel Formats: bpp Bpp RGB Masks Swap --- --- ---------------------------- ---- 15 2 00007c00, 000003e0, 0000001f NB 16 2 0000f800, 000007e0, 0000001f NB 24 3 00ff0000, 0000ff00, 000000ff B 24 4 00ff0000, 0000ff00, 000000ff NBWb Supported YUV Capture Pixel Formats: YUVSize HSamp VSamp Pack CompOrder T->B L->R YTrans ------- ----- ----- ------ --------- ---- ---- ------ 8,8,8 1,2,140183437574146 1,1,140183437574145 PLANAR YUV Y Y N 8,8,8 1,2,140183437574146 1,1,140183437574145 PACKED YUYV Y Y N 8,8,8 1,2,140183437574146 1,2,140183437574146 PLANAR YUV Y Y N XSERVER: 'The X.Org Foundation' v60900000, Protocol Verson 11.0 Screen Res = 2048x1536, DefDepth = 16; NumScreens = 1 Bitmap Unit/BitOrder/Pad = 32/LSBFirst/32, Image ByteOrder = LSBFirst XF86DGAQueryVersion() succeeded - vers = 2.00 BaseAddr = 0xd0000000, Pitch = 2048, BankSize/RamSize = 134217728/134217728 Rating Available Visuals: Rating Class bpp Bpp R,G,B Masks Swap DirectVid ------ ----------- --- --- ---------------------------- ---- --------- 5 TrueColor 16 2,2 0000f800, 000007e0, 0000001f -- Yes 4 TrueColor 16 2,2 0000f800, 000007e0, 0000001f -- No 4 TrueColor 16 2,2 0000f800, 000007e0, 0000001f -- No 4 TrueColor 16 2,2 0000f800, 000007e0, 0000001f -- No 0 DirectColor 16 2,2 0000f800, 000007e0, 0000001f -- No 0 DirectColor 16 2,2 0000f800, 000007e0, 0000001f -- No 0 DirectColor 16 2,2 0000f800, 000007e0, 0000001f -- No 0 DirectColor 16 2,2 0000f800, 000007e0, 0000001f -- No Chosen Visual is 16-bpp TrueColor XF86VidModeQueryVersion() succeeded - version = 2.02 ---------------------------------------------------------- So fxtv finds bktr1; there just does not seem to be a way to specify that bktr1 should be used *without* tuner1. -- Don't Worry.
