Default spamd+carp=sync problem

Hi,

In my DMZ, I have a mail filter gateway (MFG1) that uses spamd with success.
I was planning to add a second identical MFG (MFG2) and group them with carp.

But in the case MFG1 crashes, its spamdb will be lost, and the remote
authorised MTAs wanting to send mails will get greylisted by MFG2.
I know that I won't lose any mail, but some may get double-delayed.

Are there people here doing such thing ?
Is there some kind of synchronisation possible ?
I thougth about storing the /var/db/spamdb on NFS, but what about locks,
reliability, speed... ?
