| Hello NG! First I want to introduce myself: I'm Falk Husemann, a UNIX addicted person from western Germany. Currently I'm trying to bite through OpenBSD, because I want it to replace my Debian Installations and learn to I hope you don't get me wrong, I don't want to piss anyone, but when I even tried to install OpenBSD on a PIII 500 (327MB Memory, 6GB HD), the Installer failed at the end of the installation process and notified me of a core dump. After a restart the System boot to the point where it normally would open up a console. There it fails, stating that /dev/console does not exist. This is the second try I gave OpenBSD. The first one didn't start the Installation, because of a memory error. Now my BIOS only reports only 327MB of memory, but I have 128+256 installed. I think that if there is a way to tell the OpenBSD bootloader to use 384MB everything would turn out just fine. Another thing I didn't get any Information about is the ports tree especially of OpenBSD. Maybe it's to easy to write anything about, but I think, that I didn't search the right places. Please point me to FAQ's, HowTos and manpages (preferably ones which I can read online) to solve this problem (alone, soo I can learn something). mfg Falk Husemann |
