umass trouble with USB flash drive

I have recently installed OpenBSD 3.8 from the official CDs.
The Flash drive that worked perfectly in OpenBSD 3.6 and OpenBSD 3.7 now
misbehaves.

the three BBB lines are repeated _many_ times
...

umass0: at uhub4 port 7 (addr 2) disconnected

umass0 detached

I tried searching in archives and browsing the source code changes for
anything relevant, but being no expert for umass(4) I couldn't find
the possible reason, and the Google returns the messages related to
FreeBSD mostly from 2001-2003 similar to this problem.

Can anybody give me a hint of what's going on, and which source change
could trigger this failure.

dmesg is attached.
You can see the full output when a Flash drive is attached at the
bottom.

Any pointers are appreciated.
