Default 4.3.2 and OpenSSH instalation.

Hello everybody!

I need to establish a secure connection to my ERP system working on AIX
4.3.2.0 (RS/6000, model F50) and I think OpenSSH will be the best solution
(there is no "built in" solution in this version of AIX). I've just
downloaded needed rpm packages from the IBM software download site (AIX
Toolbox for Linux
Applications - Cryptographic Content for AIX), and rpm.rte for installing
it, but the problem is, that RPM requires minimum 4.3.3 version of operating
system (described in redbook sg246606 - "Managing AIX Server Farms"). So I
need to upgrade my AIX to this version, but I can't, because the recommended
upgrade is to version 5.x - this is impossible in this moment by reason of
financial difficulties. Upgrade from version 4.3.2 to 4.3.3 doesn't exists
at all. (???)

Please advise me, how can I make an OpenSSH available on my AIX 4.3.2.0
server - is somewhere other format of instalation files than rpm? Installp
format? Where I can find this?

If this problem is too easy to be posted in this gruop - I'm very sorry, but
I'm beginner.

Greets

I think the best solution for you is to install the Darren Tracker OpenSSH
compilations for AIX - "bff" packages so you don't need rpm manager.

http://www.zip.com.au/~dtucker/opens...p2x-bff.tar.gz
(includes password expired patch - ADMCHG flag in /etc/security/passwd
stanzas)

"They use internal pseudo-random seeding (so have no prereqs). All packages
contain bffs for AIX 4 and AIX 5. The V4 packages are AIX 4.2.1 and should
work on any AIX 4 system, including 4.3.3. The V5 packages are built on AIX
5.1 and should work on 5.1 and 5.2."

Darren Trucker's OpenSSH page:
http://www.zip.com.au/~dtucker/openssh/

have a nice day.
Marek
