| When I try "mount -rv cdrfs /dev/cd0 /cdrom" as root (running AIX.4.3.3) I get mount: : 0506-324 Cannot mount /dev/cd0 on /cdrom: The device is not ready for operation. When I use "smit installp" to attemp to install filesets from the CD I get mount: : 0511-126 Cannot open /dev/cd0: The device is not ready for operation. The same thing goes for other CDs that I'm trying to read. It also happens in another 390. The same CDs read fine in later machines such as 44Ps. How can I read these 'new' CDs on this 'old' machine? Alternatively, I mounted the CD on another machine as /cdrom, exported that, and on the 390 tried to NFS-mount it as /cdrom, but that failed mount: 1831-011 access denied for dilbert:/cdrom If I unmount the cdrom on dilbert I can NFS-mount the /cdrom file system fine on the 390. How do I get around this one? TIA Jeffrey |

Looked like it was working but wasn't. |
