| Some people at my company are having a debate as to whether to upgrade some of our servers to AIX 5.1/5.2 (they are all running 4.3.3 now). I have my own opinion on upgrading and have a few stories of AIX hardware support not even responding to unsupported OS server problems but I'm looking for some more... any stories or opinions would be appreciated!!! Thanks |

You shouldn't even need to find stories like that. Here's how support works. If you run into some nasty AIX 4.3.3 bug that no one else has seen, and for which there's not a fix, IBM will not build the fix for you on AIX 4.3.3. They'll put it in 5.x, if it even applies there, and you'll have to upgrade to 5.x before you get a fix at all. Those are the stakes.
