| The only thing I have laying around is a 3COM 905-TX, which, from what I've read, AIX does not like and is difficult at best to get working. I got this F30 yesterday, and it appears to have had a few cards cannibalized. There are several slots missing covers, and no NIC in sight. Is there a decent, inexpensive NIC that's supported in AIX 5.1? I'd love to get this on the network to play nicely with my Model 250 and 43P. 5.1 installed like a breeze and it looks like I'll have fun tinkering with it. Ideas? TIA! --Noah |

Well, it depends what networking technology you're talking about ;-) ATM, FDDI, TokenRing, Ethernet, ... ? Take a look here: http://www.ajava.biz/ibm/sysParts/7025-F30.jsp http://www.nasi.com/parts.php?manufa...odels=7025-F30 For Ethernet, i've used the 2968 (91H0397) in several machines without a hitch. Since this is just a toy in my lab, I really couldn't care less if it was 10MBps or 100MBps. I have some FDDI and ATM MCA cards that work in my Model 250, but nothing to hook them up to at the moment. > ATM, FDDI, TokenRing, Ethernet, ... ? > Take a look here: > http://www.ajava.biz/ibm/sysParts/7025-F30.jsp > http://www.nasi.com/parts.php?manufa...odels=7025-F30 > > For Ethernet, i've used the 2968 (91H0397) in several machines > without a hitch. Thanks for the info, I put in a quote request to NASI. Does that NIC require additional drivers or will cfgmgr -i and my installation CDs do the trick? --Noah |

The reseller/refurbisher prizing process seems to be rather non-deterministic and tends to outrageous sums. Regards, Frank |
