hi all my new p5 570 server hung at c7004091 in boot process. i checked p5 info center and got the content as the following. C700 4091 The system power on has reached a standby state. If you performed a service action or recovery procedure, and C700 4091 is still displayed, activate the partition. Activating the partition changes the system to an operating state and clears the SRC. does anybody know what "activating the partition" is for? we do not use the partiontion at all. any idea? Frank

Really silly question but... ....is the power light blinking slowly? If so, that means your server is in standby mode. To turn it on, you press the power button and the light should go solid. If you press and hold the button too long, the machine will go into system dump mode, and the power light will be blinking rapidly. Ah! Give me the days when these systems had power buttons, reset buttons, and a key for SERVICE mode !!!!

the real reason for booting hang is that our server is set for HMC, but actually we do not have hmc at all. after checking the lcd, i found the hmc=0. so i went into ASMI and recover the syste to factory default. the server is booting correctly without any question. thanks, Frank
