Hi,

I am trying to create a bootable cdrom for AIX 5.2 ML04.
Following the procedure written in /usr/lpp/bos.sysmgt/README, and
since the cdwriter is attached to WindowsXP machine I did:
# cd /var/adm/ras
# ls ./bosinst.data ./image.data | backup -ivqf/tmp/fakemksysb
# mkcd -m /tmp/fakemksysb -S # Will create a CD image which can be
# transferred to a system with a
cdwriter

I transfer the created image by means of ftp to the XP and burn it.
The RS6K tried to boot from the CD but failed. ("unknown label")
I guess something was done incorrectly while transfering or burning.

any ideas?

Made sure you transferred the image in binary mode? I myself like
forgetting this :-/

I did transfer in binary mode. That's not the problem.

You must burn it as an "ISO" image. I use NERO burner software and
rename the image file to something.iso so that NERO recognizes it.
