Hi member,

I am new in AIX and would like to know does the HP Surestore DAT24e tape
drive work in AIX.

The tape drive is working in NT. It is because I want to set up a tape
drive for my AIX box. However, it does not work. I have upgrade the
firmware into the latest version.

I have the following info for all of you.

#lsdev -Cc tape

rmt0 Available 10-80-00-4,0 Other SCSI Tape Drive

#tar -cvf /dev/rmt0

tar: /dev/rmt0: A system call received a parameter that is not valid.

#mksysb -i /dev/rmt0

0512-017 mksysb: Cannot write to the device /dev/rmt0.

Either write protect or in use.

Please advice.

if it's the DDS-4 drive:
check the jumper settings reachable from the bottom side
of the drive. The settings AIX likes are different from the factory default
and probably also from the Windoze settings. RTFM for details.
