Help with Digi PortServer TS under AIX???

Hopefully some of you readers will have had experience with the above
referenced device. We've been using them for several years quite
successfully.

We have a new project where this device is used a little differently
and we're having difficulties with the configuration. Perhaps someone
can provide some welcomed suggestions?

The TS device on the serial side is connected to a serial port on a
digi c/con16 ran device. The TS device on the network side is
connected to a switch which in turn feeds to a cisco router, through a
network and ultimately connects to a Tandem host computer.

We are NOT running realport on the AIX side to talk to this box.

When we sent a message to the assigned tty port the remote Tandem host
receives our message, processes it successfully and returns a message
in response.

We CANNOT see that returned message!

We feel that there must be some configuration issue or some
termination mechanism or something that would trigger the TS device to
SEND the message out the serial port, but we cannot find one!

If anyone has had any experience connecting with this type of device
in the past then would you please respond with some suggestions as to
what might be the issue with this?

We greatly appreciate any and all advice provided.
