| I need some insight as to how to get an old IBM RS/6000 R40 to boot into the maitenance menu to change the boot list. I can get it to go into maintenance mode with key in service mode and have set the bootlist there, but it does not seem to help. I have turned the key to service mode then at the > prompt typed "sbb" and got to the config menus and verified that the options of "bump console" and ",,," set to disable per the manual. It is supposed to display the "maitenance menu" after the LED code of 292 I believe, but I never get the menu. It just says, no boot device. any thoughts? |

Try booting into maint mode from CD Well, we finally got it to boot. Microcode got corrupted in the power failure. FYI, we would boot into maint mode and all seemed good, but when trying to boot for real it failed. Microcode reload fixed it. thanks. |
