| Hi All, I have an HP 2600n set up on the network with a valid IP and subnet. I can ping it, but cannot telnet to the port to see its settings and when I send a print job to the printer in AIX, the queue always shows READY but nothing ever prints. Now I have set up HP Jetdirect printers before and they never gave me a problem. This one seems to be fussy. Here is my setup: # smit printers - Print Spooling - Add a Print Queue - hpJetDirect Network Printer (HP JetDirect) - Hewlett-Packard - hplj-2500C Hewlett-Packard 2500C Color Printer (the 2600 does not exist in the list) - Do NOT make this system a BOOTP/TFTP server Names of NEW print queues to add PCL [HP2600] Printer connection characteristics * HOSTNAME of the JetDirect Card [hpjd2600] * PORT [9100] # enq -AsW|grep HP2600 HP2600 hp@hpjd2600 READY # ping -c 3 hpjd2600 PING hpjd2600: (192.168.77.99): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 192.168.77.99: icmp_seq=0 ttl=255 time=0 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.77.99: icmp_seq=1 ttl=255 time=0 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.77.99: icmp_seq=2 ttl=255 time=0 ms ----hpjd2600 PING Statistics---- 3 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max = 0/0/0 ms If I bring the queue to DOWN, I can send a job and see it queue up. When I enable the queue, the job disappears and printer goes back to READY. Nothing ever prints on the HP 2600. We are installing the JetAdmin software on the Windows server to see if we can reach the card that way, but was wondering if anyone else has encountered this type of problem ? I have set up the HP 4M, HP4000, HP4050, HP8000, and HP8100 models this way with the EIO-1 Jetdirect cards and they always worked. (BTW, I was just told we can reach it from the Windows network so it looks like the Jetdirect is actually functional...just does not like AIX) Steve |
