| I have some behaviour (I blame the Networks people), that results in our AIX users' telnet sessions hanging. The end result is that the Desktop loses touch with the AIX telnet process, and, both the telnet and the associated UniVerse process are left running. Sometimes the processes use a lot of CPU, but, mostly not. who -u seems to be the most useful tool so far, but no amount of "ps" shows me any difference in the state of these "hung" processes, than ones that aren't "hung". This isn't a great answer, as all I look for is a pattern match not equal to todays date. I've tried kill -1, but only the -9 actually stops them. So, I'm looking for a reliable way to spot these, rather than waiting for the next day, or x number of CPU elapsed time. TIA Henry |
