| I have just purchased from ebay a 43p-140 workstion with no disk. I'm new with this type of hardware. I would greatly appreciate any information as to what type/model of 4.3gig internal IBM drive will fit in my workstation. All information is welcome. Thanks so much once again. |

I've used IBM OEM drives with no problems. Why you want a 4.3G drive? I'd use something bigger if I was you. RobH |

By the way, do you recommend me any model for those 3.5 LP 68pin SCSI disks, do you know anywhere affordable to get those. Thanks so much. |

I've found a low level format won't even run if there's partition on the disks with some SCSI controllers. Do low level format the drive first it's the safest bet. I'd also use 9g drives rather than 4.3g. 4.3 is a bad size unless you select 16mb PP size if you select something smaller you may not be able to add a larger drive to the VG in the future. |

In my experience IBM SCSI disks are only expensive if you buy the "proper" drives with the RS6k firmware. Having said that I bought a pair of proper RS6K SCSI 4.5GB drives on ebay for next to nothing. > By the way, do you > recommend me any model for those 3.5 LP 68pin SCSI disks, Anything from the IBM DDYS-Txxxxx series. These are the IBM OEM versions of the RS6K drives. They have the same specs, are produced in the same factory but don't have the RS6K firmware on them. > do you know > anywhere affordable to get those. Depends what part of the world you're in. I get most of my stuff on ebay. >Thanks so much. You're welcome. RobH |

Visit www.dirtcheapdrives.com and look for their internal scsi LVD drives. Right now they're selling 18GB drives for about $150 new. We've been using them for many many years in many machines and they have all worked just fine. The IBM drives are now sold under the Hitachi name (IBM sold this division to Hitachi). Bob |
