| Hi Harrison, As far as I know, you can't install/restore a VIOS by a NIM server. What is possible is to use the HMC's installios command and its (restricted) nim environment. You can backup the VIOS partition by the backupios command to a remote file system. regards, Wijnand harrison_leal schreef: > Hi Guys, > > How I do to install a Virtual I/O by NIM Server ? > > On CD of Virtual I/O server, have a mksysb image, I can use this mksysb > image, image.data and bosinst.data to create a resource "mksysb", and > after to install the Virtual I/O by NIM Server ? > > Best regards. > > Harrison. |

| not true statement.... the VIOS CD contains mksysb, bosinst.data and image.data files ( well, you'll have do find on them since I don't have it by hand anymore ), copy them to your NIM server, define resourses - mksysb, bosinst.data file and image_data file off them, generate SPOT setting up mksysb as the SOURCE, then use smitty nim_bosinst, mksysb and SPOT resourses to install your VIOS... so, reading from your post it seems like you're missing SPOT wich you can build off mksysb and then yes, you CAN install VIOS by NIM backupios -file <filename> on your VIOS will make mksysb and SPOT and pack them into nim_resources.tar file, so it would be easy for you to restore VIOS also by NIM. In fact you will have to mount VIO CDROM and create NIM resources from backup and SPOT files you find on the CDROM Regards |
