Default Lapr

Hi all

I have doubt that on p5 systems, if any of the device is goes failure,
will it get reflected to all lpars on the p5 system or only to the
particular lpar on which the device is connected or assigned.

many thanks in advance

Agas

On power4 boxes it only shows in the LPAR the adapter is assigned.
I also expect the failure to arrive in the HMC.

Same for power5, only the lpar that is assigned the resource will detect
the failure.

Hi All,

Well if you have a VIO Server and the resource assigned to it fail,
then the whole machine would find the failure. For instance if you have
a SCSI Adapter, and that fails, then the Virtual SCSI Client adapters
should also reflect the same.

Warm Regards,

Naresh

That would be possible under the lamest of VIOS configurations. If you
are going to use VIOS for anything of importance, redundant disk paths
and perhaps are a must with consideration recommended for dual VIOS LPARs.
