It'd be nice just to be able to use the Debian PPC repository, but those DEBs are compiled for Linux, not AIX. I am not aware of a repository of RPMs or DEBs compiled for AIX. (Perhaps your company would be interested in hosting one for the public good?) There is something akin to APT for AIX, but I doubt it's as sophisticated as APT: http://groups.google.com/groups?&q=AIX-GET Regards, Nicholas -- "Why shouldn't I top-post?" http://www.aglami.com/tpfaq.html "Meanings are another story." http://www.ifas.org/wa/glossolalia.html |

Initially I'm just looking for something that will tell me which servers are down-level on their packages so I can bring everything up to date. Mike |

Then aix-get is exactly the thing you need http://aix-get.sf.net/ -- MBR, Konstantin Starodubtsev |

And of course it has nothing to do with Linux at all. > I am not aware of a repository of RPMs or DEBs compiled for AIX. > (Perhaps your company would be interested in hosting one for the public > good?) It would be nice to see a good one. A coordinated open collection of packages that come entirely scripted (like rpm and deb are and/or like for example NetBSD does) and can be rebuilt (with any desired changes added as patches) entirely noninteractively. More or less what fedora.us, freshrpms.net and, at the top, debian are. ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/aix/freeS...lbox/RPMS/ppc/ The rpm given there is of stone axe vintage and way too old to support apt. It does give something of a display on how to use rpm on top of a non-rpm-packaged base system. Compiling v4 seemed tricky last I looked. -- It's Mickeysoft for pity's sake. *OF COURSE* it's going take all the ram in range. I'm surprised the fsking box doesn't grow tentacles and start stealing DIMMs from the machines next to it. -- JoeB |
