I try to install AIX 5.1 on an F50 but get the 0c45 error. It seems that I
have to update the microcode of the cdromdrive but I can't find it. It's the
20x cdrom player with FRU 93H8055.

Unfortunately, I only see microcode available for 32x or 40x CDROM drives.

I checked both; they do not have the same FRU numbers.

Thanks Dan, I found the same recources. Maybe I have to change the drive
with another one, just to do the install.

Anyway, nice F50 for sale in the Netherlands. :-)

Mmm, I replaced the drive with an 32x and updated the firmware to 1.03. But
still the 0c45 error.

Any ideas?

Check your firmware and service processor levels:

Section 4.1 will show you how to determine were you currently are:

I'm sorry, forgot to mention that I updated the system and service processor
firmware already to the latest level. But thanks for the suggestion.

So I have an up to date F50 and an up to date 32x cdrom but I still got the
0c45 error while booting from AIX 5.1 media.
