hi all

we are going to move our current production system aix 5.2 ML06 from
p650 to p5 570.
is there any way we can go which can move all original system
configration including database and application environment to new
machines?

i know something we can do like cloning the system hard drives, but i
believe that only can be used for the same hardware achitacture.

any idea??

Frank,

I assume you have tape drives for both servers:

1. Create a mksysb tape on P650
2. Boot P5 570 with AIX 5.2-ML06 CD1..
3. Follow the procedures in AIX Technical help database :

things are little different.

we are current backing up our aix sytem with dvd but normal tape drive.
on the other hand, the p650 had aix 5.1 ml05 originally and i upgraded
to ml08 firstly serval months ago.
finally, i migraged to aix 5.2 with ml06.

so, i am wondering if the migration will go smoothly??
