Default mksysb 3590, which tape fo rrecovery
Hi,
I understand I can write out mksysb to a 3590 and a 3580 tape is
bootable. We currently have 5 drives attached to our 550.
Question:
If I write a mksysb to rmt1, if I want to recover during a system
crash. How to I access the 3590 to get the correct tape.

rmt0 Available 04-08-00-6,0 Differential SCSI 8mm Tape Drive
rmt1 Available 05-08-00-0,0 IBM 3590 Tape Drive and Medium Changer

HI,

If your system crashes, you have 2 option.
1. Boot from CD then select the drive to restore from. to prevent trial and
erroe, you may power off all other drives, if you can. look out for the SCSI
address of the tape drive an make a guess, you will get it eventually.

2. Boot directly from tape no CD. You will be directly restoring from the
tape drive the cartridge is mounted.
