| Hello, We have two p5 boxes: 9113-550 and 9133-55A. Is it possible to move SCSI drives between this boxes ? When I installed drive from 9133-55A into 9113-550 and run cfgmgr it complains: Method error (/etc/methods/cfgscdisk -l hdisk3 ): 0514-086 Cannot perform the requested function because the specified device is not supported on this platform. Drive is visible with lscfg command but is not visible with lspv. hdisk3 U787B.001.DNW38A7-P1-T14-L3-L0 16 Bit LVD SCSI Disk Drive (146800 MB) Manufacturer................IBM H0 Machine Type and Model......HUS103014FL3800 FRU Number..................03N5267 ROS Level and ID............52505152 Serial Number...............00B1300B EC Level....................H17923D Part Number.................26K5574 Device Specific.(Z0)........000004129F00013E Device Specific.(Z1)........RPQR Device Specific.(Z2)........0068 Device Specific.(Z3)........07044 Device Specific.(Z4)........0001 Device Specific.(Z5)........22 Device Specific.(Z6)........H17923D Brand.......................H0 -- |

It wasn't connected to RAID adapter (AFAIK), but I'll try to reformat it with 512 bytes sector. May be it helps ? This drive shows as Defined, and I cant make it Available. -- |

And SCSI adapter microcode also has been updated. Drive still is visible as defined and could not be made available. Even while booting from diagnostic CD and this is the only drive in the server. This drive works fine in p5 55A adn p5 52A models. We can plug into p5 550 any SCSI drive except IBM's. That's amazing. -- |

We eventually opened a call with IBM and were told that the 55A drives are not supported on 550s (there's apparently a hardware compatibility website somewhere that says just that). Strangely, the 55A drive does work on our older B80 servers. |
