Default Network Interface Backup

Hi all,

I'm interested in connecting my pSeries (6F1) to 2 independent netwotk
switches for redundancy. I want to use the "network interface backup"
facility intoduced in AIX 5 (Etherchannel --> netif_backup mode)
connecting the 2 Gigabit Network Interfaces (Feature Code 2975) on my
pSeries to the 2 network switches.

This sounds good, but in the redbook "AIX 5L Differences Guide Version
5.2 Edition" (pag. 554) threre is the next Note:

Note: The network interface backup feature is currently supported
by 10/100
Ethernet FC 2968 and 4962 and gigabit Ethernet PCI card FC 2969
(devices.pci.23100020.rte, devices.pci.1410FF01.rte, and
devices.pci.14100401.rte). If you are using other devices, you may
receive
unexpected results.

As you can see, the Gigabit card FC 2975 is not supported (athough it
uses devices.pci.14100401.rte, like the FC 2969).

Somebody knows if this is really true ???. Someboby has tested this
configuration ???.

Thanks in advance,
Joan.

Default Re: Network Interface Backup

I have the same cards on my machine and NIB works fine. The machine has
failed over several times during Switch upgrades and a power failure we had
just this last weekend.
