the subject isn't true:

I'm able to squeeze 3.800 kByte/s through the Auto LANStreamer
token-ring with AIX 5.1 ML7
But only according to topas :-(

Today I applied ML7 to AIX 5.1. Was ML5 before.
The net and disk I/O in kByte/s shows twice of a plausible value, the
sums are correct.
Same on a 43P-140, same as with ML2 and ML5.
AIX 4.3.3 ML11 topas worked.

Is it soooo hard to fix, or does no else uses topas?

I always liked the screen layout of topas very much.
