I have just received a RS6000 server previously in use in another company.

I have changed the ipaddress of the server to match our network, there is a
light on NIC, but I can not ping it.

Maybe the speed or duplex of the NIC does not match my switch, how do I
change that ?

Try :

smitty chgenet

and choose your network interface to modify (ent<X>), in the next menu
you could select network speed and duplex mode (menu depends of your
network adapter device).
