| Hi, We are looking at upgrading our P590 firmware from 230_153 to 230_156. According to the IBM support site this upgrade is concurrent. I spoke to the IBM CE and he said thay always reboot anyway whenever they do a firmware upgrade. I would of expected to be able to upgrade this firmware on the fly without downtime as it seems that it what the support site is implying. Am I wrong, anybody done this successfully on the fly? |

I've only done a couple of firmware upgrades on AIX systems and whenever the upgrade is for the system and not a component (such as a CDROM or tape drive), the system automatically rebooted afterward as the final step during installation. My guess is that this auto-reboot will happen with your P590, but I could be wrong. |
