| Hello, I'm just starting to learn AIX on an old RS/6000 machine (43p-140) with a 604e cpu. What sort of tasks is best suited for this cpu? For example unpacking an archive takes three times longer than on Linux with a Pentium 500mhz. I thought because of RISC architecture a 266 MHz cpu should perform better than higher clock speed Intel pentium. If so, what application or benchmark test will show the advantage of ppc? As you can see I'm quite clueless. I would appreciate your input. Regards. uncle ziba |

There you'll find Benchmarks which you can use to compare the performance. Best regards, Andreas. |
