Default problem with geninstall

hello all,
i'm using "smitty geninstall" to apply some APAR's that I downloaded
from fixcentral.
problem is... after pointing geninstall to the directory where all of
the APARs are located, smitty only sees ONE (1!) of the APAR's I
downloaded, and then lists a bunch of them that I DIDN"T download.
I know the filesets for the APARs I need are correct, and complete...
I verified the download list on fixcentral, and used the
Java-downloader-thingy to get them... the whole list d/l'ed with no
problem, and all the filesets for all the APAR's I requested are there.
I know smit see's the directory because, as I mentioned, it lists one
of the APAR's by name.
I'm doing this:
smitty geninstall -> Update Software by Fix (APAR) -> INPUT dev/dir (my
D/L dir. containing the filesets) -> FIXES to install (here the
problem... I hit F4 to list the APAR's... and the list contains only
ONE of the APAR's I got, and a bunch fo them that I DIDN'T get!!)

Anybody know what could be up with this?

Thanks,
-P

BTW... I ge the same result from:

smitty installp
&
smitty instfix

also... i put these fixes in a new dir. i created... so it should build
its own .toc, and not get confused with the one from the last install
(diff. dir.)... right?

-YES

i did:
%inutoc /dir/to/my/APARs

& (for good measure), I did an "inutoc ." from within the directory.

its my understanding that installp calls inutoc anyway... but whatever.

the results are the SAME...
ONE of my desired APAR's is listed (out of SEVEN that I need)... and a
bunch of OTHER APARs that are NOT mine are listed.

WTF?!?!?!?
