Default [Q] How to replace hot spare disk on SSA D40???

We have IBM SSA D40 disk array. On loop-A there have 7 disks configured as
RAID5 and one hot spare disk. The hot spare disk look like have bad sectors and
I want replace it. I use "smit" to check disk:

smit
SSA RAID Array
Change/Show Use of an SSA Physical Disk
# SSA physical disks that are hot spares. x
x # Disks in Loop A are: x
x pdisk3 0040AA1DC6E000D spare good 18.2GB disk

How to change disk status from "spare" to "free" before I use "rmdev -dl pdisk3"
to remove it?

Thanks.
