| Hi, Does anybody knows how to recover a backup (aix) from a network server in a from-scratch ibm machine. AFAIK, that is possible almost in SP2 nodes from the control work statio with tftp. I would like to make a sysbackup image and store it on a remote server, that could be later retrieved over the network. Regards, Patux |

| Hi, I guess Tivoli has a product call Christie BMR (Bare Machine Recovery) that would let you do this in a jiffy as intended... but I am not very sure if this is certified on P-Series hardware. Beside the conventional way would be that you could take a mksysb tape for disaster recovery of the ROOTVG and later import the other VG's.... Regards, Naresh |

I'm hopefull in a gpl like solution. may be a linux box with tftp, etc. > Beside the conventional way would be that you could take a mksysb tape > for disaster recovery of the ROOTVG and later import the other VG's.... Right, but a rootvg with more than 12 Gb may be a bit longer that a 4mm tape. The idea is to restore the node without reinstall. > Regards, > > Naresh Tks.! |

| You could also try looking at Sysback for AIX, now tied in (as below) with hooks into TSM: http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstract...3705.html?Open Looks pretty good, and the redbook is very handy too... Rgds, David McClelland |

| Cristie BMR is for Windows, Linux and Solaris - doesn't seem to be AIX friendly >>> http://www.cristie.co.uk/index.php?id=14 David Mc |

Look into nimol (NIM on Linux), it will allow you to do that. (Nimol is on the 5.3 CDs). -- Doing AIX support was the most monty-pythonesque activity available at the time. Eagerly awaiting my thin chocolat mint. |
