| Hello All, I've been given a task to logically move number of archaic servers "as is" to a new location & hardware. Most of them run 4.2.1, some 4.3.0. There is no way we could upgrade these machines, since apps running there are even more archaic. mksysb backup/restore went OK, now I need to move the app filesystems using savevg/restvg. Restvg fails with "Unable to create the Volume Group", and there's even no -l switch to the command in 4.2.1. Where else can I look for more diagnostics? I suspect it's failing because target disks have different geometry, only the sum of all sizes match (in fact, is 20% bigger than on source) Laying out hundreds of partitions by hand would be my very last option. Is there any smarter way? I've got an idea to boot 5.2 from CD or NIM server, and do restvg as if from diskless client. Will then 4.2.1 recognize the LVs and filesystems created in 5.2? Any other suggestions? Thanks, Andrei |
