| I am trying to implement NIM. It stuns me that IBM like to use the "r*" commands, NFS and tftp; hardly renowned for their good security! However, I have managed to get rlogin, rsh and NFS to work. I am having issues with rexec. I can get rexec to run with "rexec -a" from my 5.2 NIM master to my 4.3 NIM client, but this is of little use, as I need it to run the other way around for the Client Configuration. My Firewall admin' assures me we have all the rules burnt, and the fact that I can go one way, but not the other, tends to back that up. When I try to initiate a manual rexec from 4.3 to 5.2 I just get a hang. Doing some "netstat -an"s shows me that the reply port is way up in the 63k+ range (and decrement by 1 each time ?!), but my problems appear to be with STDERR or STDOUT ? The "-a" option on 5.2 appears to resolve this STDOUT/STDERR issue. Has anyone seen this problem and overcome it ? IBM, of course, have pointed out that 4.3 is no longer supported; well, I already knew that, guess why I'm upgrading using NIM ! Cheers Henry |
