Default RS6000 7046 B50 / AIX5.1L / Want to install KDE desktop...

Howdy,

Got a RS6000 7046 model B50 with AIX5.1L.
Would like to install the KDE desktop environment on this box.

I dowloaded all the RPMs from IBM and need to know if there
is any specific layout of the directories on the CD that the
AIX5.1L installation process wants to see.

The AIX5.1L installation CD #1 had some RPMs in a
/RPMS/ppc directory. I don't know if the is all the installation
process wnats to see or if there is any other info on the
CD that's required.

Any help is greatly appriciated.

I think you are consusing rpm installation with installation of bff
(backup file format) software packaged by IBM.

RPMs are installed via command line rpm -ivh (package name).
Just be sure you have rpm installed from the 5.1 cd set and you should
be fine.
