| We are looking at setting up an old J40 as a development and test machine and need new disks for it. As we have no budget we are looking at using generic SCSI disks. Has anyone put generic scsi disks in a 7013 machine with any success? If so, what type of disks are known to work. Cheers, Will |

| Hi, Do you want to us internal SCSI disks or external disks, as I remembered that the supported disks for j40 was 2.2GB or 4.5/9.1GBs with specific IBM OS fixes, if you have a scsi fastwide card for MCA in your system i.e I think P/N 93H7896 Enhanced SCSI-2 Differential Fast/Wide Adapter/A and IBM 7204 Model 139 9.1-GB External Disk Drive then I think you may be able to workout things if you have Oslevel greater then AIX 4.1.5. Hope this helps. If you do not plan on using the internal hard drive bays, you may be able to use one of the SCSI adapters in the machine (IIRC they come with two adapters as standard). Rakesh |
