| Is there a way to avoid the question about term type at boot time? The system hangs and waits for an answer and does not continue until you hit enter. This is on AIX 4.3.2. smitty tty has the right information entered for the terminal type. lscons shows the right terminal (tty0). Thanks, Doug |

If other users have different term types they can rely on their own /home/username/.profile entry. Hope this helps. |

I've always just typed the term type there. After you complete the software load, you can set the console type, but I don't recommend that, since someone can come after you with a difference type, and that could mess up the display. For example you may use an IBM 3151 terminal, and they could come in with a laptop using VT100 emulation. > This is on AIX 4.3.2. If you can, upgrade that guy to 5.1 at least. If you are the only user of this system, then smitty tty should do the trick. After the boot process finishes, it shouldn't ask for your terminal type. |
