between the menus " Install Software " and "Install and update from
All Available Software".

Bonjour,

Dans smitty, Quelqu'un pourrait il me dire qu'elle est la difference
entre les menus "Install Software" et "Install and update from All
Available Software".

Avec le cdrom d'install de Tivoli Storage Manager, si je passe par
"Install Software" j'ai moins de fileset que si je passe par "Install
and update from All Available Software".

Merci

(My French usually makes even seasoned Frenchmen pale, but I'll try to
render my rantings in French for the amusement of the masses...)

A description of what you ask can be found at
http://publibn.boulder.ibm.com/doc_l...CA8B4DC991TTAY

With "Install Software" not all filesets are shown:
(non presente toutes les packages software)
- Language and message related packages are omitted.
(non presente packages pour languages et messages)
- If there are several versions of a fileset, only the latest is shown.
(presente seulement la version actuelle d'un package software)

My advice:
Unless you know exactly what you want, stick to "Install Software" and
select "automatically install requisite software".
(Vous etes secure si vous prendez "Install Software" et selectez
"installer software dependante automatiquement")

Yours,
Laurenz Albe

Hallo Pierre,

The different SMIT panels (smitty install) can be divided in two groups: the
first group is responsible for installing base filesets including possible
updates. Their keyword usually is "install". The second group will install
updates only, first keyword usually is "update".
Now, the install_all panel is the only panel from the install panels that
will offer a complete list of all filesets that can be installed. Hence no
choice of particular NLS files, it's the one size fits all installation and
therefore the list is (much) longer.

HTH,
Andreas
