Hi there,

I'm trying to create a new class within the ODM using odmadd. I created
a file according to the doc but recieve

0518-402 odmadd: Cannot open class: erronotify, stanza line: 13
/tmp/link_log
Check path name and permissions.

I tried both versions with an without leading tab in the inputfile and,
of course, I'm root ;-)

Any ideas would be welcome,

whats your ODMDIR variable set to?
echo $ODMDIR

It needs to be /etc/objrepos, wont work if its anything other that that

$ODMDIR is set to /etc/objrepos, I checked that first - but didn't write
it down, sorry

Thank for your help, any other ideas?

PS: AIX is 5.1 ML6

What are you exact steps including your odmadd file contents and
command line commands etc ..

First I created a file for the class as follows

erronotify:
en_pid=0
en_name="syslog"
en_persistenceflg=1
en_label=""
en_crid=0
en_class=""
en_type=""
en_alertflg=""
en_resource=""
en_rtype=""
en_rclass=""
en_method="/usr/bin/errpt -l $1 | /usr/bin/tail
-l|usr/bin/logger -t errpt -p daemon.notice"

Note that only tabs are used except in the command line. After creating
the file just typed 'odmadd /tmp/link_log'.

That's it.

You have a typo in the class name. its errnotify not errORnotify
