| Hi! are there any of You that have sperimented the installation of the new powerpath 4.4.2 eFix 1 in a vIOS lpar ? ---- cite ----------- 218290 PowerPath has added support for the Unique Device Identifier (UDID) feature for VIO. UDID is the preferred disk identification method for Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) disks. Other methods for identifying VIOS disks include IEEE Volume Identifier and Physical Volume Identifier (PVID). Each method may result in a different format on disk. The UDID method is already in use as an identifier for MPIO devices. It has now been expanded to include support for VIO devices ----------------------- In this case what king of issue have you encontered? Many Thank's Valerio |

You will find this guide at https://powerlink.emc.com > Support > Document Library > Host Connectivity > Technical Notes/Troubleshooting. There you will find a detailed description how to migrate from identifing disks using PVIDs to UDIDs. I hope, to read this guide will prevent you to see one of the possible issues, (including data unavailable). The command "recreatevg" should help you to recover lost volumegroups, caused by changed PVIDs! Before you update EMC PowerPath, refer to the EMC Open System Support Matrix and the EMC PowerPath for AIX Release Notes, too - YOU NEED TO READ THE FOOTNOTES ! Note, that EMC PowerPath 4.5.1 for AIX is available, too. Best regards, Swen |
