I have been trying to reboot my AIX 5.1 machine.

I tried the "init 6" command. It does not do anything.

What is the normal way of rebooting an AIX machine?

shutdown -rF

r- is for reboot
F- is for fast (now) with no F there is a 1 minute delay. If I have to
reboot from a terminal instead of the console I don't use the F, it wont go
down if I do.

The problem is, AIX doesn't really have run levels. It's a bit
ridiculous, but that's the way it is.
