I think audio-pause.diff should go in first. this fixes
PR 3813/kernel.

I wrote a small program to test audio(4), available at
http://jakemsr.trancell.org/distfile...est-1.0.tar.gz
and there is a port at http://jakemsr.trancell.org/audiotest-1.0-port.tgz

test basic recording:
$ audiotest -o test.pcm
works

test recording using select(2)
$ audiotest -o test.pcm -s
hangs

it would be nice to have an audio system that at least does what it's
documentation says it does ...
